Well, I thought It would be appropriate to break in my first and new pistol on Jan 1st. The pistol range was dead. There was some kind of competition for the trap range but I had one goal in mind for that day.
My brother, a friend and I were the only ones on the pistol range for the entire 3.5 hours we were there.
My M&P on the left side. My brother's newly acquired Glock 17 Gen 4 on the right side and his Norinco NP 22 in the middle.
So, I take my first shots with my M&P and immediately think to myself, "nice toy gun." I honestly expected alot more recoil from this thing. Before you guys start at me, remember, this is my first hand gun. I am used to shooting rifles and shotguns. The trigger was fairly light. It didn't take me long to feel somewhat comfortable with the firearm.
After the first magazine was cleared, I really started hammering through the rounds. Four magazines went through the pipe really quickly.
Next I wanted to try the Glock. I was a different feel...obviously. I think i like the m&p grip better just for the simple ergo design it has. I have to say, the sights are a little easier to view on the Glock.
The NP 22 was pretty smooth compared to the two previously mentioned guns. I am sure it is because the Glock and M&P still need to be completely broken in.
Continuing on my report...
The UpLula mag loader that came with the range kit, just rocks! No sore fingers. I was able to easily load the mags to nine rounds. You really had to push the tenth one in. I know this is a common issue with new M&P mags. After emptying the magazines, it didn't take long to reload them.
I found the M&P to be very accurate. I am not by any means a good pistol shooter but as it stands, the gun shoots where you point it, out of the box.
One thing I will have to get used to, is the "muzzle flip." I think it was the worst out of the three. Not even that could wipe the three hour smile off my face. I have to say, that was probably the most fun I have every had shooting at the range.
Sorry for the very novice range report but I really don't know what else talk about considering I don't have any experience with this gun. I'm sure some questions and observations will come up in the near future.
Oh, one important point to make is we had about 800 rounds of 9mm between the three of us. Between the three pistols, there was not one failure. That, in my mind, is a good thing.
