Well,
Received my Glock 19, 9mm (106MM Bar-Sto barrel) as well as a Glock 36,45 ACP (106 MM Bar-Sto as well) from Mark at Questar and couldn't wait to 'warm up the barrels' at the range today....
Crappy day... snow, wind, -6C, but had a great time with the new units.
The 36 is a snappy little beast, and with the conditions and cold hands, I'd had
enough after 50 rounds or so...function was typically Glock (flawless) as Mark
had done an A-1 job of fitting the custom barrels:the modification which allowed me to own these shorties with my restricted PAL.
The 36 seemed combat accurate..I was shooting offhand at 25 yards, and
condsidering the conditions, the rounds went where intended, as long as I
took my time, and tried to avoiding starting to 'anticipate' the recoil.
The 19 was an absolute sweety... again functioning was flawless, unlike the other guns I was using... a S&W 1006 (10MM), Baby Desert Eagle (9MM) and
my new H&K Expert (45 ACP). These other guns were bawking at going into
battery...my fault, having used FP-10 lube...too thick for the conditions!
The accuracy and shootability of the 19 was fantastic...I was using American Eagle 147 TMJ, as well as some (hard to source) Remington Golden Sabre JHP....
For some reason, I found the 19 fit my hand better, and I was more accurate with it than my 17...(which I traded against a 34... a great gun!)
If the 17 works for you, there's probably no advantage in the 19... I just found it seems to have better balance, and definately would be my choice for CCW...(I wish!)
The 36 may find more favour, in better shooting conditions, but unless you're a dyed in the wool 45 ACP kind of guy (or girl) I would recommend the 19... hands down...comfortable, accurate, easy to shoot (well).
