I took my M305 to the range to do a little ammo test. I have a good supply of Norinco 7.62 x 51, but I recently purchased a case of Freedom Munitions from a friend so I thought I'd try them out side by side. My M305 is in a Boyd's stock, with a Sadlak spring guide and a Nikon Buckmaster scope on a Basset mount.

The Freedom Munitions is re-manufactured ammo, .308 150 gr. FMJ. I was surprised to see that the Norinco produced tighter groups. Here are the best examples:

I guess my Chinese rifle likes Chinese ammo. I just got another case from TradeEx, so I am glad it does!

That DAMNED flyer rears its ugly head again.
The Norc round really does seem to like you though........very nice.

Lovely rifle!

I find the Norinco ammo groups about like that in my rifle, similar setup to yours but old GI fiberglass stock. I just have trouble spending 5bills for steel cased ammo, getting old I guess, I know!:)

Grey nice looking stock you installed there, I need a wood stock!

Your groups are not to bad at all.

Looks to me like you are putting a little windage into your groups with your trigger control. See how vertically you a only around 1MOA, nice with ball ammo,.... while horizontally your are spread a little bit more. Once I finally started to get into my trigger after 1000+ rounds, I find I'm just stringing a little vertically from sight picture error over irons. I see alot of potential there with your trigger work pressing smoothly back into the center-line of the stock. Maybe you are already doing it okay, just something I noticed. Good luck with your rifle.

My groups are horizontal as well I am wondering if its in need of gas system tuning or if its me not use to the not so great trigger mine shows a 2" group with 168 smk reloads and the spread is all horizontal

Baker it's just my idea on the trigger control, I find when it's benched its as bad as any. I remember someone on here talking about horizontal group stringing when on a bench rest. I just found how I control the pistol grip, press straight back with finger tip really helps mine a bunch. There are some shooters on here with many thousands of rounds through in matches that may post to let us in on some of their trigger techniques. I know our stock triggers are heavy and a bit draggy, so maybe they have their own inherent way to let off.
