Range report on the Vism Center beam 3-9x42 scope
Was looking for a scope for a 10/22 project I am working on. Decided to check out the Vism scope being sold by Canadaammo for $199. I am no expert on scopes but I have to say I was really impressed by this one. I tried it out on my current 10/22 and my Norinco M4 and it made a difference over the 4 power scopes I had been using. The Vism goes from 3-9 and magnification ring is easy to grasp and turn, I could not see any issues as I moved through the magnification and it was nice to be able to see those .22cal holes at 100yards.
The turrets are big, easy to grasp and the marks are very clear. There are definite clicks as you rotate the turret. Once you have zeroed your scope to the rifle of your choice, you can loosen the turret dials and set that as Zero, making it easier to adjust for windage and still return to zero after. The scope comes with the reticule centred.
The reticule is the “P4 sniper” type and there are clear instructions on how to use this for range finding. The scope comes with see-through covers, instructions and cleaning cloth.
The laser is the one thing I wonder about, I suspect it’s a marketing department idea to make their scope stand out from the crowd, frankly I think this scope can stand on it’s on without it. However I tested it anyways, the laser works to at least 500’ in the dark(distance I was able to test to), but in the daytime against a dark target, it starts to wash out at 50yard and disappears on a sunlight target at about 30yards. The adjusters for the lasers are fairly large knobs and not the little set screws we see on other lasers.
Mounted in on my 10/22, zeroing it to the rifle was easy and the big turrets helped, held it’s zero with about 200rds through it. Then onto my M4, the rings were low and I thought the standard front sight would block it, but the front sight disappeared completely while viewing through the scope. Shooting the M4 with this scope was an absolute pleasure, I could see the holes in the paper and the image was strong and sharp, nice with my not so young eyes!
I am happy with this scope and will buy another to put on my M4 (with taller rings) In my opinion the scope can hold it’s own against others in the same price range and seems to have more features, it might even do well against other more expensive scopes but I can’t say for sure. I hope this review helps.
