Well I have been waiting some time but my brand new Ruger SR1911 showed up at my door yesterday. I did not have a lot of time this morning but I ran up to the range at 6.00am this morning before I had to go to work. I only had time to fire one box of shells. Here is what I found out.
The gun worked flawlessly. Not one fault of any kind was experienced. The ammo I took was a 230 grain cast select bullet with a small pistol primer in Win brass with 5.0 grains of Win 231 powder.
I shot 2 10 shot targets at 20 yards and the the other thirty rounds at one target at 25 yards. The target at 10 yards is very slow controlled fire and the one at 25 yards while not rapid fire but fairly quick fire.
The only issue that I could possible complain about is I did not care for the quality of the mags they include with the gun. I took a couple of my Colt mags and that solved that problem.
The mags go in easy and they come out just as easy. The sights are easy to see and the gun shot to point of aim well. The trigger pull for a medium priced gun is very good. Clean and crisp. The gun points and handles well.
The only problem I might have is that a buddy of mine has a gun I want real bad and he has been talking about selling it to me for some time and later in the morning he phoned me at work and he thinks he is going to finally pull the trigger and let me have it. If that happens the Ruger has to go on the EE so I can raise the money for his. I guess that is not the end of the world as there will be lots of these guns around for some time and the one he has is not made anymore.
Second target shot at 20 yards.
