Range Report with pic...........

On my Springfield 45 XD, the slide is steel but the guides in the lower end are polymer. No problems with it yet. The same is true for my 9mm Bul Cherokee. I have 2 of these with about 2,000 rounds though each and no slide problems or even any noticeable wear on the polymer parts. The new generation polymers seem to be a great deal more durable than the old plastic that was used in some grips, etc. and would crack simply by slightly over tightening a screw. I've been impressed with the durability (so far) and the weight difference is incredible. I originally went to the polymer Cherokee simply for its light weight (permanent shoulder injury). I couldn't hold a Para on target for more than 3 - 4 magazines, now with the Bul and the Springfield I'm shooting in IPSC. I will admit that it goes against the traditionalist nature I usually have, and wouldn't have gone to polymer if I hadn't had this injury, but I have been very impressed so far.

I think it just sounds scary to some people but I have researched the crap out of this and found no one with an issue.

Not much frame rails holding the slide......even less then a 1911.

I guess time will tell. It was 2004 Guns and Ammo gun of the year, which I guess doesn't mean too much, I believe is the XD is the title holder this year LOL. I have really put mine to the test now and the frame looks just like it did when I bought it. I will be taking a CDP course next month and will update the performance.

I shot her... it was really nice... very accurate. I really liked ther sights too.

I wouldn't be too conserned about the frame wearing out.... even if it does, I'm sure Ruger would replace it, even it they wouldn't they defiantly sell you another..

about the rail underneath.. who cares if it is polymer... I see plenty of guns with rails on them... I very rarly see anybodys gun have any accesories actually attached to them...

personally I like Berettas idea with there 90-two... the factory piece attached JMO

Nice Gun Chris...... great looker (two-tone... inside joke), great shooter, great price, great company.... can't go wrong

Rick

p.s. easy on the sig looking at purchacing one lol

Now we can tell this gun can really shoot well:)

Ohhh, sure. Making fun of the XD now hey?

My XD has even smaller rails on it and they are also Polymer, as noted above. No problems.

I'm not worried. People that worry about Polymer guns are the same type of people who were agianst the internal combustion engine.

Insert smiley face here.

I am thinking of buying one too. One of my local gun shop is selling them for 530 with another 10 % off. I am tempted. How can I go wrong for a semi-auto 45 ACP for under 500 ? Do I have more choices except Norincos ?

Besides Ruger being known for giving you more bang for the buck, no pun intended LOL, I believe other .45s that are no better are just more expensive because they have a proven track record. 10 years from now the P345 may be just as expensive as some of the other big boys. ;)
