Ranger plate for m14 mags?

Anyone make a ranger plate type thing for the m14 magazines? If so who where and how much?

Magpul makes slip-on style magpuls for them, that's what I use, but not aware of any real ranger plates.

Damn, I have those on my 20's but they won't work for my 5 rounders. I was hoping for another option

i was wondering the same thing, my 5rd mag seats tight in my rifle. i was thinking of bubba'ing some para cord through the bottom plate.

I was going to do the para-cord thing, and i may as yet

- but I found using my little plastic hammer and some LIGHT tapping and a magic marker to show rub areas, I was able to loosen the tight fit of the 5 rounders quite a bit.

if they're anything like usgi, you're going to have 'fun" getting through the floorplate- mine are spring steel, and you're going to have to use an awful lot of oil and maybe titanium bits- when i had to block my mags i had to use my hole as an entry for my pop riveter

My solution on the 5 round mags using some shoelace

I did have to drill the extra hole in the base plate AND getting the base plate to slide back on was a tiny bit tricky as one of the knots made it real tight.

Some time ago i saw a thred were a ranger plate was fixed to the botom plate of a m14 mag ,I can not find it ! but i know i have seen it done on CGN in the last year...

I used a plastic cable tie - not a zip tie, a rigid one. Sort of looks like a "P".
I used a large (3/16")but very short aluminum rivet through the existing hole.
It looks like another (much smaller) trigger guard in front of the mag release.

Damn does it ever work well. Put your thumb on the mag release and your finger slides right in to the cable tie, the mag pops right out and hangs on your finger. Works perfectly with either hand. The only thing I would change is go with a 1" tie instead of the 3/4" I used.

The only downside to this is you'll have to drill the rivet out to take the mag apart. I liked it so much I did the same to my 10/22 mags as well, JB weld a bit of plastic tubing in the well at the base.
As I said the M14 one is a bit too small at 3/4" - overcompensated with the 10/22 mag a tad at 1.5".
One inch would be perfect unless you're wearing gloves.

I may play with one of mine by bending up a C-shaped steel rod, inserting onto two drilled holes on the base plate and then plug-welding them solid on the inside of the mag plate, then grinding flush. Would look OK and work well, but I'd have to re-park the baseplate in all likelihood.

You can use the existing hole. I think it's only there so you can pry the bottom plate off. Once you have a welded grip that would suffice to bend the plate enough to clear the tab.

I suppose you need a drain hole if you're in the habit of patrolling in chest deep water though........
