im looking for a range where i can shoot out to 800 or 1000 yards near winnipeg.

i used to belong to the arborg gun club, they have a nice long range where you could shoot 1000 but its 2 hours away and there is nothing there except a giant berm and long grass

i now belong to brandon wildlife but they only have a 200 yard rifle range

anyone know of any good clubs?

Manitoba Provincial Rifle Association has access to the DND 1000 yd St. Charles range just north of Assiniboia Downs racetrack at the west edge of Winnipeg.

You could join the Manitoba Provincial Rifle Association, and get to shoot at St. Charles range, out to 1000 yards. I can't tell you about what restrictions there are though. Maybe someone with more experience will chime in.

Tell me more about the Arborg range!

well the range in Arborg is probly 10 min north or town.

i think it used to be a more active range but now there isn't anything there except a shack leaning over (used to be the clubhouse i guess), a giant berm (biggest iv seen at a range), but there is yardage posts on the edge of the bush that mark out to 800 yards and there is still a ways to go till you hit the road

the best part is thats it is also good for restricted

i probly have the contact info in my filling cabinet somewhere. if anyone is interested ill look for it

They don't want you shooting magnums there. To close to the city. If the armed forces have a shoot you get the boot. It is a military range after all.

Let us know about the Arborg range. That's only an hour and something north of Winnipeg.

From what I remember it's about 2hours to the actual range from the west end of the city.

The grass is long and there is a swell at about the 3-400yrd mark so I had to elevate my target a fair amount and shoot prone out of the back of a truck so that I could see anything.

I would be very interested as I normally drive 3+hrs to the whiteshell to get that kind of distance:eek:

Where in the Whiteshell would you make that kind of shot? Drive in or using a quad/hiking?

Posted a few pics from Ontario in here- http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=757401

Most are a long drive/4x4 then hike. Just go to the end of the trail hike up a hill and laser the skyline;)
