New guy here. Ive tried the search to see if anyone posted a question like this but not having luck.

Does anyone know of crown land, spots, or ranges that off shooting distances of 500-1000+ yards near or in a small radius of the GTA (toronto)?
Aside from Base B. in Barrie.

There isn't any Crown Land near TO where shooting at those distances would be safe. Too many pesky skiers, hikers, picnickers and other riff-raff using it too. You have to know exactly what and/or who is behind the back stop out to several kilometers.
There are no civilian 500 plus meter ranges either. Silverdale goes to 200.
 
Glockdude... will be hard finding Crown Land anymore. It's either Conservatory property or Conservation Authority property now. Like Sunray has said...too many other users to even think about shooting. Best bet would be to find a land owner that shoots and has an established back stop. Good luck, hope you can find somewhere to shoot.

Its not close to the GTA but a friend and I have gone up to some hydro cuts around Algonquion for a camping/shooting trip and were able to set up and shoot a car door at 1000m with his M1 Garand. That would be your best bet (hydro cuts I mean) and nothing "close" to GTA
 
Yeah I guess so far Im stuck with 200 @ silverdale.
This might make my decission a bit easier caliber wise. I might just have to go .223 instead of .308.
