With the recent news on the ATF classifying the FRT-15 trigger as a machine gun, does anyone in Canada own this?

FYI, Rare Breed Triggers is still selling them in advance of their court date this week.

I heard you can own a full auto trigger assembly but its illegal to put it in the rifle is that correct?

There are lots of full auto parts for all kinds of different guns floating around. They are not the problem, so don't give the feds an excuse to prohibit the loose parts in your plastic tubs and bins. The Supreme Court of Canada test is whether the firearm can be easily converted to full auto. Part are parts, but having the two together is going to make the Crown Attorney's job easier.

From my understanding you are allowed to own and install(if they fit without modification) full auto trigger parts because the auto sear cannot fit in purpose built semi autos. Ie an AR15 with a m16 hammer, selector and full auto bolt is fine because without an auto sear it functions as any semi auto would.

This is different because it in a sense alters the rate of fire of a purpose built semi auto. Although it's a little more gray than something like a lightning link I don't think it would pass any legal test.

PART 4
Prohibited Devices
Former Prohibited Weapons Order, No. 9
1 Any electrical or mechanical device that is designed or adapted to operate the trigger mechanism of a semi-automatic firearm for the purpose of causing the firearm to discharge cartridges in rapid succession.

I guess it depends on how rapid succession is defined.

Without drilling the third pin with precision and milling of a high shelf lower the full auto LPK won’t work. There are some low shelves floating around tho as they aren’t explicitly prohibited, just a few years before the may 1 prohibition the RCMP started reviewing lowers to see how they were milled.
