Great firearm.....I grew up with a 582(tubular mag),but foolishly traded it. I got lucky enough and picked up a little used 581 a couple of years ago again on a trade and man she shoots like a dream. Enjoy your firearm. Btw Bass Pro had some ten rounder mags the last time I checked.
I have owned the left-hand version of your rifle for 35+ years, and right now it's nowhere near as nice looking as yours, but was at one time.
I can't even estimate how many gophers it has sent to their 'pasture in the sky', but it's still super accurate.
About the only negative are the plastic magazines, but nothing crazy glue can't fix.
A super find for you. Congratulations.
I also grew up shooting my dad's 582 it is a great gun, very accurate. I had to take the plastic part aound the rear site to mount the scope in low rings(I did not know scope rings came in different hights back then) I would buy one if I ever stumbled accross one. I hope my brother is taking care of dad's
Nice find. I also located a 581 in like new condition a couple years ago.
A trigger spring job can make it more user friendly from what I hear.
The trigger is about the only difference between the 541 and 581,
Both are great shooters. My 581 is neglected now in favor of my cz's.
Are you going to shoot it?
