Yes, I know this has come up before, like some of the other threads that never really die.........

But lately there has been a profusion of folks trying to sell "RARE" guns that just are NOT rare on the EE Hunting and Sporting arms forum. Really???

Yes I am a grumpy old fart. ;)

I agree with all of the above. :d

Just like "NIB" and "excellent bore" can mean very different things to a Seller than a Buyer, so can "rare" apparently. I've had guns where fewer than 2000 were produced and I called them "scarce" where others might call a run of 10000, "rare".

All that aside, "rare" does not mean "valuable", in fact so few having been produced probably meant it wasn't ever in demand and won't be now.

Yep. Translation: I want double what it is worth.

Sometimes I check the US prices, add a few hundred bucks for import fees and come to the conclusion that the poster suffers from disillusion.

There is some numb nut on ####### asking $2 a case for fired 303 Brit cases. It is possible to buy factory ammo for $2.50 a round. It is also possible to buy fired cases for $0.50 a case. So buddy is basically asking 4x what those cases are realistically worth.

It's rare to find what use to be commonly available firearms on retailers shelves these days. No longer having the ability to purchase what you want because it is simply not coming to Canada in any sort of quantity is making prices increase. Hard to find is a form of rarity
