RARE rifles on the EE

Right now there is an ad on the EE saying that the rifle is 1 of 20K made (Breda Garands made for Denmark) and that it makes it one of the rarest of the Garands.

People have very different opinions on what the word "rare" means.

Or the guy that is posting firearm(s) at a ridiculous price just so he can tell his wife that it(they) has been put up for sale! (with no real desire to sell it)

I’ve seen that with an old Cessna 170B that was for sale that I really wanted. The price was out of touch and a friend told me the sign was only there to appease his wife as he had 2 aircraft and she wanted him to sell one…

I just purchased a rare rifle last week, a BSA (1950's) Viscount, claw extractor, featherweight chambered in the 7x57 Mauser. Only around 300 of them were made. It's in the mail from Ontario, as I typed this post. I'm now a proud owner of two BSA's, the other, a 30-06 Majestic featherweight. I'll "need" these rifles for hunting in my old age.

^^You will really like it. Mine is also a 7x57 with the 3-leaf express style rear sight, just been too cold to get it out. Maybe 2 months to go here and I’ll knock the scope off and see if the sight works out to 300 yds.

“Excellent condition for its age, shows minor wear on receiver, few small scratches on barrel”…..”wood is excellent plus with some gouges and dings”……”NIB condition, only has 200 rounds down the pipe and shows some wear”

And as said, I’m sick of seeing the word rare. And well used Model 12 field grades north of $400

I actually have almost stopped looking on CGN for used guns. It’s terrible.

Awesome, that's in great condition, and of course a classic cartridge. Mine is identical, however, it's missing the rear sight. I'll be shopping at gun shows for that sight. If those are Warne scope rings, could you please let me know if there is any markings, such as, a number or model?

Agreed, but I think it's like that wherever you look for used firearms in Canada. You've really got to know what things are worth. And you've really got to be prepared to deal with sellers who don't know anything about what they're selling.

You'll occasionally come across a good deal from someone who is both knowledgeable and honest, but that's not the norm.

For sure. This forum's EE is nowhere near as bad as #######. A lot of people on there selling are not "gun guys" just trying to make money. Nothing wrong with making a profit but nobody wants to get raped.

Alpining— There is no markings on the rings that I can see. It came with scope and mounts but my thinking is that they are Talley.

Thanks 450yukon. I believe you're right, they are Talley gloss rings. Warne have 2 screws on top and bottom section of their ring. (4 screws per ring) They are 19mm wide and will fit the BSA rifles, also, they have 25mm and 30mm. CZ/Brno makes them as well. Thanks again!

Haha, I know what you mean! Better/worse, or maybe just different... I've dealt with lots of great people both here and there. And I've come across supposed "gun guys" here that don't seem to know much about what they're selling. Or maybe they would just rather deal with a buyer who doesn't ask questions. Fair enough, it's their deal, they set the terms.
