Rascal or Crickett

If I had a child I'd look for a single shot Cooey used .

ditto...

100 bucks or less (if you think they out grow pants fast...) You not only have to cycle the bolt, but also pull back the cocking knob before firing. Cut down your stock in 2 chunks, and slap the 2nd one on in a year!

M'boy is 9 now, and will soon (ahhh all too soon) be using my rifles!

You won't be for want of better accuracy for a new, or old shooter.

EDIT:
Of your first inquiry, what ever you can get your hands on for the best $'s...I've shot both, and they are fun.

I bought my daughter a henry mini bolt - IMHO more sturdy built than both rascal and cricket - accuate as hell - the bolt pull #### is a bit of a pita however at this point I am seeing it as an added level of safety in learning hands.

I agree wholeheartedly. Bought a Henry Mini Bolt for my grandson's use and it is a fantastic little rifle. Completely downsized for little shooters, good fibre optic sights, decent trigger, and very accurate.
