Rational Alberta Hunters

Yes we got to a footie game (That is where I took the pic above) And you are right I picked up a lot of Ausi lingo. When we went to the game I asked one fellow who was along which team we were "rooting" for. He looked at me sideways and explained what "rooting" meant down there. We in Canada use the term for "barecking" Chearing for a particular team.

I did get a chance to go out to a real shed and see some real shearers working and learned what the other jobs in the shed involved. Also learned that all of the sheep have the same name ("little bastard").

The wife is putting in for another exchange so in a few months will be trying to deside what area we may be able to go to.

Is there any State where the "gun laws" are not so #%&**$% stupid and restrictive as in NSW??? I did a test and payed some $ and then found out it was going to take several months and cost more money and I'd have to join a gun club (which was going to take more time and $) and I'd have to send in an application if I wanted to buy a gun (more time and $) and I'd have to get a gun safe and have it bolted to the building and have it inspected and......Well I used an expression that is commonly used in Aus. and Canada when dealling with crazy Gov't gun regulations (F_ _ _ This) And snuck out with some mates to shoot some rabbits in the spot light.

Oh yes, you have definitely been there by the sound of that, the use of language takes a wee bit of getting used to, particularly our use of profanity as a descriptive aid.
It generally takes strangers a while to realise that the our use of language is not intended as insulting or demeaning, rather the opposite.......as a general rule !
Tasmania is a different thing again, there is an awful lot of the tall ships language still in everyday use, it is very easy to feel insulted in Tassie, when I shore down there in the eighties I was staying in a pub, one of the locals walked up to me and asked me if I had a (sounded like f-ck to me) for him, after the locals dragged me off his throat it was explained that the fellow was after some cigarette papers....yes I felt like a clown.

All the states have the same rubbish to go through to get a license, what is more it is becoming more onerous, should you make it back and wish to hunt, then be sure to look me up.
James.

IMPORTANT: IF YOU DO VISIT AGAIN MAKE BLOODY WELL SURE THAT YOUR WIFE GETS A JOB IN TASSIE....IT IS THE PICK OF THE STATES.

Ps, I think that is why there are so many North Americans....they are rooting all the time !
