Whittington Center, a 33,000 acre facility where every type of shooting discipline takes place.
Main building and museum.
Inside the museum
One of the residents, there are also MANY mule deer, and a whole variety of wild life on the facility. I saw about 6 mule deer every morning just outside the deck of my room.
Competitor housing on site (directly across from 1000 yard range), we stayed at another complex area not pictured.
A 1000 yards of fun.
A couple of Canadians that did very well at the match.
Just part of the firing line.
This shooter travelled 41 hours from the Ukraine. He did not speak English but we communicated in gun talk. The bipod is his design and construction.
There were shooters from all over the world, if you ever consider going to a match just watch the partying with the Austrailians, they only stop when they get down to business shooting!!!
A close up of his bipod. He used an app. 2 foot rod with a small knob on it (not pictured) to adjust height with the gearbox pictured. Appeared to work excellent and the shooter did not move at all when adjustments were made.
The long range silhouette area. The buffalo is at 1123 yards. This close up does not really indicate the distance, so see the next picture.
You can see the buffalo on the left hand upper part of the picture. The long range competitors quickly got bored of shooting the buffalo and shot at the small rocks beside it.
A picture of the 1000 yard range from the short range silhouette area. Picture was taken late at the day so parking lot is empty.
Short range sihouette.
There is nothing better than the feeling you get when you shoot a spotter out at 1000 yards in the 10 ring at a national match. They found it for me and it is my prize souvenir of the match.
