I was given my grandfathers log book. He was a com tech but just trying to understand some of his other courses that are listed, is their any where this info might be listed online?

Looks like a good question to ask at Canadiansoldiers, folks there should be able to either provide some answers to the question or point you to others that may be helpful. While the question is about a RCAF log book CS is pretty flexible and don,t get to wrapped around the axle between Army/RCAF questions.

I was in the RCAF before integration and don’t remember a specific tradesmen log book but there was a UER (unit employment record that had an entry for different things that one was qualified for and listed any courses that one took. Quite often the courses would be listed in abbreviated form so someone in a different occupation might have difficulty deciphering an entry.

Thanks I posted the question to their forum.

The book is from the 60's. Its a blue 8" x 5 3/4" book with the RCAF crest on the front and says RCAF Tradesman Log Book. The front page is types with his picture, address, enlistment date etc. Lists his security clearance as well.

After that the pages are titled: Unit employment record. some of the entries are typed some are hand written but most of it means nothing to me. Even the listing of "Gnd Defense F1" is rather vague.

He had an interesting career in that he signed up before WW2 then got out after the war and resigned again in 1948 I'd love to know what happened during the war but still waiting on the records from the government.
