All I can say is that I am 99% satisfied with my Chargemaster 1500.

Makes loading stuff much more accurate and faster than the old trickle method...
Finished loading almost 300 .223 Rem (26.2gr Win 748). Easy and simple...

Now for the 1% annoyance factor. For the first 250 or so it did great. Then the pound of 748 fell below the "power trickler tube"... So I had literally another dozen or so cases to fill by hand (~300 grains or so). That is the only annoyance....

Very pleased overall....

Picked one up a while back and after I figure out how to operate it, with all my gadget technical skills:rolleyes:, I'll have to get into using it the next time I reload.
It's a snap, you'll have no problems. I just switched over to one, it's the cat's @ss. I don't know why I waited so long, I always found the powder the most tedious step, and now it's a non-issue.

I'm sure you're right, or at least I hope you are. My main problem is I kind of buried my self in new technology toys, all at the same time. A Chargemaster Combo, digital camera and a GPS. On the up side, early retirement has given me the time to dig my way through it all.:);)

Well. I love my chargemaster. But I always found trimming to be the worst step of ALL reloading portions.

Add me to the list of people with the 1500. LOVE IT. It works with every powder I can throw at it from the finest dust to the flakiest flakes, and everything in between. The scale holds zero very well. Even when the temperature is varying a lot in my basement, the scale retains a solid zero.

I have used a Charge Master for about a year now and love it...but it has some problems with certain powders. The powder that gives me the most trouble so far is H4831sc. This powder clumps up at the mouth of the dispensing tube and dumps too much at the end of its cycle causing an over charge of 1 to 3 tenth of a grain about 50% of the time.

H4831sc is one of my favourite powders and it was driving me nuts until I made an adaptor that fits inside the powder tube. This adaptor restricts the powder flow somewhat and expands the mouth to a wider and smoother surface thus preventing the clumping. Instead of a 50% error rate I now get 1% error or less.

To make the adaptor you need the following; One 7mm Mauser (7x57) case and one .222 Remington case. Cut 0.80" off the top half of the 7mm case. You now have the neck, shoulder and part of the body to work with. Now cut 0.90" off the top half of the .222 case. I used a copper pipe cutter to cut the cases to length. A little trimming with a case mouth chamfering tool on the 7mm case allows you to slide the .222 case inside the 7mm case with a friction fit. A small amount of 5 minute epoxy at the mouth fixes the two cases together. The adaptor is now completely assembled and only needs triming and smoothing. The body opening of the .222 case will have a ridge on the inside caused by the pipe cutter. This must be removed to allow for a free flow of powder. This is simple to remove by chucking the case neck into a power drill and removing the ridge with the case chamfering tool. While still in the drill smooth everything up with steel wool. Your done. The 7mm case neck fits inside the mouth of the Charge Master's dispensing tube ready for use. Each time you empty powder from the Charge Master you should remove this adaptor as some powder will remain inside the tube if it is not.

I know, I know, where are the pics? My computer skills suck. I've tried to post photos without success. If you want photos I can send them via email. PM me with your email address or email be direct at rifle@cablerocket.com

gunster, great tip, thanks. I have loaded a fair amount of H4831, but not H4831sc. I had no problems with the H4831, but I'll keep my eye open for that clumping with H4831sc.

There are a few powders that will do what gunster indicates, particularly fairly dense powders like Norma MRP, and Vihtavuori N560, so a big thank-you for a very simple solution. Regards, Eagleye
