I press calibrate, then when it’s asking for 0 and with nothing on the scale and it’s stable I press calibrate again. Then it asks for 50gram weight, I lay it in the scale and wait for it to be stable, press the calibrate button again and it beeps and gives me an error. (I have a video but don’t know how to post it, I can email if anybody is interested in helping me).

For interest sakes, even though scale is not calibrated it will measure the 50gram weight as 62.09grams (958.2grains). Should be more like 771.62grains. Obviously this isn’t acceptable.

I called RCBS and they only warranty this unit for 1 year but mine is older, and they only offered this for advise:
Try taking the scale and dispenser apart and blow some canned air like you would use to clean your keyboard into the connection ports. Also a couple shots under the platen to make sure there is no powder on the load cell. Also take a bounce or downey sheet and wipe the entire unit down with it to remove any static electricity. Try loosening the feet on the bottom of that unit and tighten them back up so that they just touch the bottom of that unit. Those units have a 1 year warranty on them and we will replace them if they are under warranty at no charge to you. I'm sorry but we do not work on those units.

That didn’t work... do any of you have any idea how to fix this? It seems that years past RCBS warranty would replace the unit but I sure didn’t get that option. Kind of sickened at the thought at buying a new one.

Thanks!

Did you see something on YouTube that I didn’t? I am looking for advise on the issue with my chargemaster, please be advised that I did my research by searching the internet and calling the manufacturer prior to this last ditch effort of positing in online forums.

Too bad The advise from RCBS wasn’t able to fix the problem. I think I will call again and ask about a trade in value. I am very surprised that in an industry that prides itself on customer service and warranties had one of their most expensive items can give up the ghost and they leave no recourse.

Can you still buy the rcbs scale as a stand alone unit? You could just swap out the scale rather then buying the whole thing.

I am pretty sure the Chargemaster 1500 scale has been discontinued. You can still get the combo with the powder handler but not the scale alone. Yeah, the warranty is clearly up but one would think you should be able to ship the unit to RCBS and have it repaired on your dime I would think. It is not clear if you asked them. Also not sure if it would end up costing more with paying the shipping and all the cross border charges as well as the repair costs as just buying a new one. Natchez had the combo on sale for a pretty decent price not that long ago.

Just thinking about it some more. Did you try the scale without the powder handling system installed to see if it works? I have the scale alone and it had some problems so I took it apart and cleaned all the internal contacts. That was about 2 years ago and it has worked well since. I also have a Chargemaster Lite and it works well. The only problem I have with it is that the screen style keypad is difficult to be accurate on and can be a bit frustrating to use.
