RCBS Chargemaster question

Does the RCBS Chargemaster work without the scale attached? I want to use it to dispence the powder and then weight it with my acculab.

I just got mine the other day. I don't think you can, although I have never tried it. The dispenser and the scale communicate with each other electronically and without each other, i don't think it will work.

So dispense the powder to the attached scale/pan, and then weigh it with your acculab?

They are 2 seperate units that work as one.

So you coudl detach them and dispense powder into the scale if you want. Won't be as fast, though.

So how does the dispenser know how much powder its dispensing without the scale? I would imaging you would have to calibrate it to do so?

The scale feeds back to the dispenser, the dispenser starts fast and then slows as it approaches the final wt.

I use the chargemaster to dispense the powder and then dump it in my acculab, using curved tweezers I remove or add powder to get the wt exact.

While I am doing this the chargemaster is dispensing another charge. The accuracy issues with the chargemaster are not the scale, but the fact that the dispensing tube will often drop an extra one or two pieces of powder on its last turn. I have never found it to be under it is always dead on or one or two pieces over. If you need your loads dead on, then I advise you to do what I have outlined above. For non-match loads the charge master dispensed load is perfect.

You can use the scale as an indepentant unit attached or not.
