RCBS Precision Mic Headspace Tool

These sound like a good tool to have for setting up your full length sizing dies. Is anyone here using them?

I have one in 308 and one in 22-250.
They're all right. I find the cartridge OAL tool kind of hit and miss. It's handy for full length sizing. If you're using a bolt action you can accomplish the same thing by sizing a case and screwing down the die until the bolt closes with little or no resistance.
I bought mine a little over 20 years ago, but I probably wouldn't buy one at today's prices. About $70 I believe.

Instead of buying one of those for each cartridge I use, I went with the Forster Darum Dial Kit, that way you can measure ANY casing accurately and save lotsa $$.
 
I have them in .308 and .223. The headspace mic works well. The bullet seating depth gauge as stated above is kind of a pain to use.

Do yourself a big favor and buy the Hornady cartridge case headspace gauge, and just buy one gauge for "ALL" your different calibers.

Below my .308 Precision Mic has been sitting in its storage container for years and all I use is the Hornady gauge.

Thanks, that is exactly the kind of advice I was looking for. This forum is great.
 
I had the RCBS in a few calibers. I found that I had one that wouldn't work very well for seating depth as the set screw wouldn't hold the "bullet" enough and it would slip. It always showed me shorter than what I needed.
 
The forster and hornady tools seem to be ok..but it doesn't appear to me that either one can be used to measure the rifle chamber COL to the lands and transfer that measurement(adjusted as desired) to the seating die
