Hey everyone, I'm new to reloading, and I found a 5-10 year old RCBS progressive press forsale...

This is what it says "Everything you need to get started, needs to be cleaned up a bit but comes with .40 dies. 10mm dies auto. measure. Standalone scale."

I want to reload .300win mag, so I will need dies, what else will I need or ask him about. Also what would this be worth??

I would say about $150 to $200, for his press. It seems a little low but his dies are only worth $35-$40 and the press is worth about $100.00 in really good shape. Add $40 for 5-0-5 or 5-0-2 beam scale, and I would need to know what kind of "measure" you are talking about to give you a firm price on that.

Frontier (at the top of the page) currently has a Rock Chucker supreme starter kit for $379.00 and that includes everything you need to get started, except for dies, bullets, powder & primers. A way better deal in my opinion, as it is all brand new, warrenty etc. etc.

Good luck on your search for a Press set up.

Ask him for a list with the specific items that he is selling with the press. Pics would be better. I always get a little leery of "needs to be cleaned up a bit". If it is too much effort to clean it up himself before selling, maybe its too much effort to describe it accurately.

Not saying you should pass, you might be getting a really good deal. I'm just suggesting you get all the info you need to determine just exactly what kind of deal you are getting.

You can get an approximate value once you know specifically what is in the package by just finding the new price on one of the big sporting goods store website and go from there.

Quickly, in addition to the 300WM dies you will need a shellholder and a set of calipers. And oh yes, the most important piece of reloading gear, at least one reloading manual.
