RCMP antique pistol letter wait times 2023

Who is is Messrs and what did they claim? I have access to a copy of Belford and Dunlap through a local institution but I don't really know what substantiates their claims to production dates / serial blocks. It seems that very little information is currently archived / uncovered about actual production and inventory at Mauser. From sales data it also seems Mauser wasn't particular about sending out pistols in an kind of sequential serial batch either. Best thing that one could hope for is a distributor (probably an English distributor) record of a sale in your serial block (ideally above your SN) that pre-dates 1898-01-01.

Messrs. is plural of Mister (I realize they may have PhD but not bothered checking)

Otherwise the onus of proof of something is on the applicant not the lab in Canada. they currently hold a position that the skip blocks are post 1897 and it's up to the applicant to prove otherwise. (Yes, the book is attributing the skip block info to effectively hearsay but not much we can do. Shipment records are the best if on the applicant's favour.)

Never dealt with Liz... but I wouldn't be surprised if she usually deals with the c96 - the tech doing mine was... squirelly - avoided direct contact at all costs.

Usually it's Mike or Mario for other models... i.e. there are multiple techs but it would seem they have their specialties

No thanks to Mauro and his overly detailed letters (I'm sure you know if you ever got one) we lost the 3000 block when someone wanted to get a late block gun 'antique lettered' and sent it in ;) It's nice to know all that academically, but annoying on a personal level :)

First, congrats to the OP for getting his c96 lettered.

Question: So does this mean the only safe ranges for c96 is 1999 and lower? The 4### and 2### block is a maybe and anything other than that is a no? Does anyone have more information on skip blocks and which blocks were actually produced in 1897?
