I was surprised at how considerate they were actually. First question was asking if I was in a place I could speak freely (I wasn't)

I asked if he could call me back in 5 minutes and he said no problem. 10 minutes later he called me back, in the time between he had called both of my references (both of whom sent me a txt)

I'd have guessed as soon as he was unsuccesful with call one I'd get tossed to the back of the pile.

App. sent on Oct.14. Should only be a couple more weeks

This is becoming a more frequent practice for the CFC lately. Kind of a pain but at least they didn't do anything to tick you off or make you feel like a second class citizen (other than make you register firearms and pay a bunch of crap fees)

No such consideration here, dood.

They made up some B.S story about how they called both my refs, and they "tried to leave a voicemail, but it wasn't working"... One of my refs doesn't even have voicemail.

The operator I spoke to was funny as hell though. Very easy to speak to.... actually spoke english? Go figure. :p

Bring it on...

I know that it is a new aspect and that we're not accustomed to it but, if you think about it, having the knights of the ### actually conducting an investigation , rather than just pretending to do so - prior to the issuance of a license - might be in the long-term interests of the recreational firearms community.

Ironic, I know.

Just think of some of the asshats that have gotten licenses in the past (E.G.: Mom Boucher, Kimv**r Gill, that individual with the Devil's mark in his/her username...) and realize that, given our political situation, this sort of background check won't really hurt any - and can only help us.

you're lucky they called, application processed september 18th, they have not yet contacted me

Yea, hassles. The chick asked me if I'd written and applied for restricted as well as non restricted...like we both are maybe unsure ."yep" i say.....she's like....."Why restricted?" in a snooty high-school valley-girl voice, I said...."i don't know." (7:00a.m. alberta time). She says "I'll remove 'restrcited from you application if you like." I said..."No." she says "why not?" i said......"Cuz I already paid for BOTH courses!" .....she said "okay", and didn't even offer a refund for restricted. One slip of the early-morning-tongue, and I could'a "f'd" myself in the "a".

I was through in a short time though, no complaints there.

That was a trick question dude, and saying "i don't know" is the wrong answer. The answer they are looking for is "target shooting at a range". As that is the only LEGAL use of a restricted firearms, all other answers (ie: in case of zombies?) may be a problem.

good luck, I hope you get it.

My story on why restricted was: My dad and I did our courses at the same time and he's becoming really good freinds with a retiring VPD officer that's getting him into target handgun shooting. I would like to have another good reason to spend quality time with my dad since he taught me how to hunt and we hunt together.

Stellar!

I have a friend who choked up when they asked him, and his mind went blank. So he said... "uhhhh...cause I am really interested in how mechanical things work, and I want to know, uh, how to take them apart and clean them, and really understand the mechanisms inside of firearms." They gave him his RPAL, no problems.

They ask you that when you buy one, too. The answers they need are target shooting or for a collection. One time just for kicks when they asked me I told her "Cause it's shiny"

I was approved by the next day. :D

I hope to be getting that call soon. I am one inch closer as of today:

So if I answer that I need a restricted license to prepare for the coming Zombie Horde, its a bad answer?
well then...I dunno for...target...shooting...maybe?
