Is anyone having any slamfires from their rdb? Ive had 2 when using the bolt release and under 200 rounds through the rifle. Free floating fireing pin. Googled and didn't see anything about it

Sounds like you are having firing pin issues, Are you using Factory Ammo? I had the odd slam fire in a rifle I used to have when I used softer primers in my handloads. Perhaps you could try 5.56 ammo with Crimped Primers to see if it is just soft primers. I am not sure if this will help but it could give you an idea of how out of spec The Firing Pin is.

Do you have a scale? perhaps someone else who owns the same rifle could weigh their's and measure length of it as well so you can compare.

Have you disassembled and cleaned it to make sure there's nothing that could be preventing the firing pin from moving freely? Perhaps a piece of blown out primer?

Since it's not happening often it has to be something really simple causing it.

gun was fully stripped and cleaned but ill probably do it again just to be sure. all hand loads, barrel is labeled .223 i believe so i dont want to put any 5.56 in it.

Make sure the firing pin and channel are completely dry, no oil at all. The oil can cause the firing pin to "hydraulic" by forming a vacuum in the channel which makes the firing pin retract and then bounce forward against the primer.

Not an issue for me yet. like you only a couple hundred down the pipe. Several burns from brass dropping straight down at the bench. Otherwise I would be sorry to see this one go.

I have read .223 is what they are. It was done for export. It's not just stamped they are .223 barrels. This is stated by importer. If they are saying that because they have too tow that line not sure.

It's a 1 in 7 twist barrel according to specs posted on a sponsors site. It's pretty unlikely it has a short throat, I'd shoot 5.56 NATO if I had one. I could understand if it would void the warranty, but in my experience they are pretty much interchangeable. If the OP is concerned try some AE 223 55 gr FMJ as they have harder primers.

took it apart again and cleaned the pin and channel. there was a bit of oil on the pin so hope that's it, cleaned it up and the pin moves better so i will see

I had this once last winter, no reson for it except that MAYBE sensitive primer. it was pointed down when I dropped the bolt and boom. checked everything over could find nothing wrong from now on the rifle is pointed up when I drop the bolt. slow things down just a tiny bit maybe

No more slamfires latly but noticed that if a round is chambered and not fired when i eject the round theres a light mark on the primer from the firing pin. Like a bery light primer strike. Is this normal? Im new to semis but i dont think this shiuld happen

I've seen that on other rifles, I wouldn't be overly concerned about it
