Hey guys

I am trying to find some scope rings for my sako 85 finnlight that have rails on them so I can mount a red dot and possibly small flashlight/laser on. Last year Moose hunting a grizzle came into our camp and my rifle was pretty much useless considering the bear was 25 feet away. I ended up firing 2 warning shots in the air while he attempted to eat my sons first moose. He just started leaving just in time as my dad showed up loading 3 inch mag shells in his 12ga. Phew scary night.

I have done a bit of googling and seen some scope rings that have a rails on but I am not sure if they will work for my rifle.. Or if they will export to Canada. I would only be attaching the red dot at night or the odd day at the range so I can't see the rail getting in the way with other things during the hunt.

Any advice on where to find such mounts for my firearm and scope would be much appreciated!
 
I am surprised that you chose to mount a huge scope like the 6-24x56, on a lightweight rifle, like the Finnlight. It defeats the purpose of having a lightweight rifle. As to a bear at 25 feat, I would just look along the barrel.
 
That's fair. I did expect to hear some criticism regarding me putting the big (but beautiful) scope on this lightweight rifle. I had the choice to sell the Zeiss scope when I sold my other Sako but decided to keep it as it was just to good to let go of. Instead I thought I would buy a high quality lightweight 300 win mag and mount it on that. I thought with the heavy scope and the light gun I would have the same weight as a normal setup. Another reason I kept it was that I am a confident shooter at 500 yards and I bagged all my kills this year with a single shot at 350+ yards and with the quality glass why change it up with the success I was having.

Regarding my idea of mounting a red dot on top of the zeiss I thought it could be a little off season project of mine.. We have projects we do during the off season from setting up a new gun to trying reloading for the first time. This would keep my little project till Black Bear opens in May.

Ideally what I'm looking for is a little help in finding some scope rings that would support me putting a red dot on top and possibly a flashlight/laser on the side.

Search "Near Manufacturing"

...I'm pretty sure he has rings/mounts that incorporate a rail on-top the front ring* Am positive I've seen his "alphamount" offered with a picatinny up top.

And he's out of Camrose. Is all excellent/top-shelf stuff.
 
The guys at Near Manufacturing have some very cool stuff. I sent him an email asking if the could help me out. I just stumbled across the Burris PEPR which seems to be exactly what I need. Just need to make sure it can be mounted..
