Well I refinished the stock on my Mosin 91/30. It looks real nice. However when I reassembled the parts I have an issue. The bolt will not come out. I must have jammed the trigger, or something in that area. No matter how I try..it won't come out. Now I have disassembled and re assembled this gun a number of times and never had a problem. I have held down the trigger from all possible ways /means and jiggled it for an hour. By the way I can close the bolt but there is no tension on the trigger. No go. So I have attached a schematic of the 91/30 and wonder if any of you have ever had this problem and how did or if you fixed it. if I could get the bolt out then I can look at the trigger and sear and see where I messed up. But of course since I can't get the bolt out I can't get at the rear screw to remove the whole assembly to look at it. Catch 22.

Your comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

Remove the forward screw and try it. If that doesnt work get something to get the rear screw turning. It doesnt have to come up as the mag will drop down. Once the mag drops out you can then pull it apart. With the rifle decocked you should be able to turn the rear screw.

Just checked on my M39 and you should be able to make the rear screw turn even with the rifle cocked. Albeit with some difficulty but not impossible.

Only thing I can think of is the the bolt head might be hanging up on the mag. Did you leave any shims out?

Well I finally fixed it. Wouldn't you know it when I re assembled it the trigger pin, unbeknownst to me, had fallen out. That was the problem. However I had to modify a slot screwdriver so I could get the rear screw out because the bolt would not come out. I ground just above the slot head so I could reach the screw from on top. Worked like a charm. While I was at it I shimmed the trigger so it's not as heavy as it used to be.

Thanks to all who replied,

Tom
