Re-barrel SVT-40

With an original barrel or a new custom barrel? Anything is possible, but I would suspect that fitting a brand new custom barrel would be expensive. The Globe conversions were fitted with SMLE barrels, so rebarrelling is possible.
 
Exactly. Why? We already have the SKS ;)

As to adapting a new commercial bbl, it have to think the chamber fluting would be hard to replicate without a series of indexable chamber broaches.

Now, the .303 versions didn't have a fluted chamber, but they also were nowhere near as reliable as the originals were in 54R.
 
"...the .303 versions didn't have..." They were converted by Globco, mostly, and most have bad headspace.
Anything is possible with enough time and money. In this case, lots of money.
