This rifle looks like it just left the factory. Well finished with a quality blue. The barrel and receiver match, but so far as I can see, every other part came form a bin of re-finished parts. All the bits and pieces, including the stock, look new or very well re-finished.
I have a number of M98s, and this is the best looking one.
I am wondering who re-built it? If it was a mid war over-haul, I would not expect to see all new parts. If the parts are not new, they are re-finished to a much high standard than a military war time spec would call for.
Can any one explain what I have and put a realistic value on it? I assume that a 1936 Mauser would be well made and have a legitimate wartime service history.
