Re-reaming out a chamber

So, I have two relatively heavy single shot rifles in 243 Win - is it possible to re-ream a 243 Win chamber into a 6mm Rem (.244 Rem) chamber? I am not sure about how the body tapers might coincide or not. I do not want to slice off and re-thread the barrel tenon thread, then re-chamber - but this might come to that.

The 243 case is larger in diameter towards the neck and straighter wall case. I think you'd be looking at setting the barrel tenon shoulder back.

Good question, the 6mm is narrower through the shoulder area than the 243. What about chambering for the 6mm AI, the shoulder diameter seems to be about the same as the 243.

Setting any barrel back two turns is common, this cleans out the old chamber and allows a new throat to be reamed.
