Your thoughts on the following...wanted to create a "tight neck" on a standard chambered 260 Rem...Using 308 Fed Gold Medal Match brass
-resized to 7mm-08 in Hornady full length die
-necked down one more time using 260 Rem collet die
-finish sized in Redding 260 Rem neck die with expander ball in
*trimmed to length and measured for neck diameter
Neck measures .293 in unloaded brass and .295 when loaded.
I necked down a piece of brass in steps and tried to chamber at various diameters...found that @.299 it will not chamber, but @ .298 the bolt will close a bit stiff...and at .297 there is no resistance. Assume therefore the factory neck diameter is .297 -.298.
That will give me about .002 cleaance for bullet release. Have I missed anything?
