I loaded the truck and headed out this morning only to find that the cloud cover was too low and i couldn't see further than 300 yards.

On the way back down i stopped at a backup location which had a nice rockbluff directly across the valley and ranged at 956 yards.

So i got set up and lobbed out a couple of rounds, wind was up and i had no way of getting an accurate reading so i aimed for center of rock face.

Took my first shot and missed the impact in my scope.... tossed out a couple more rounds but by then i was way off the mark so i packed up and went home.

I downloaded the video into the computer and was happy/sad to see that my first shot was right on the mark for elevation !!!

Guess its time to hire a spotter.

Very nice. If using a bipod, a pod lock helps alot to keep you on target.

Back down your mag a bit so you have a wider field of view.

Otherwise a great start and once you figure out the winds, you will be hitting that rock everytime.

Good stuff...

And I thought wind was affecting my groups at 200 yards! LOL! What bullets are you using? I'm thinking about giving some heavier grain bullets a try! I've been using the Hornady 55 grain FMJ, looking for suggestions for a 1 in 9 twist?

Looks like a great time! A spotter would be worth their weight in gold:D I have been told that loading the front of the bi-pod will help it from moving (pushing forward on the legs and being squared away behind the rifle for a solid lock) I need to learn more about body position behind the rifle yet;) Nice that you can record video at that distance!

I got back out there today, conditions were almost perfect.

By the time i had set up everything the wind had started so i will need to get up before dawn next time. Travel time from my house to this spot is 1.5 hours.

Hi Jerry !!

Thanks to you i now have this new hobby :nest:

I have a 1/8 barrel sitting here... i bought it from you last year but i am doing quite well with the bone stock rifle so ill wait until the original barrel is burnt out.

I am playing with Sierra 69gr and 77gr bullets, 28.5 gr of Varget.

Now its time to reload.
