Just made myself a bright orange target gong! The plan is it will impact seal, can't wait to unleash a brick of .22lr to see how it'll perform. Half inch thick and 6" wide. It will be woot to shoot at. :D

This is the paper got me started.

Yes, from a frying pan. But I won't use it to cook breakfast any longer.

Paper targets can be boring, and need a good ($$$) spotting scope over 50 yards.
Metal spinners are the best at longer range, however, too small for pistols (well at least for me...) and not as safe i guess.
My .22lr won't spin up those duraseal targets, the bullets just pass right through, no fun.

So I built this hoping to give reaction like hitting the metals and will last a good weekend of shooting. I will report back after the range day!

edit:
It works great, a brick of 22 hollow pts and a few mag of .45 and it still standing.

I know what you mean shooting paper can get boring and most ranges don`t allow metal targets. I use tennis balls hung from fishing line. Also I cut a 4x4 into about 4 inch lenghts and keep shooting it until there is nothing left of it challenging when it gets swinging and as it splinters apart and gets smaller. You still havn`t told us what material your target is made from

Ok, I read your crazy paper...well...skimmed it.....and now I know a little more about carbon nano-tubes, and a lot more about how the ionic content of thermoplastics is irrelevant, even detrimental (whoda thunk it) to the self healing processes described in said paper...which of the materials in the study did you shoot in post #5? Great pics by the way, bumped to show everyone...

any chance of a simple recipe and materials used list for those of us that are not a chemistry proffesor

You'll have to make your own carbon nano tubes at home, they can be a little pricy to purchase http://www.nanomaterialstore.com/swnt.php ($100++/gram)
