Does anyone know a place on the net that I can a good, clear, and easy to understand method for reading wind speeds and then adjusting for it.

Google Milcun Shooting Complex. They have a book called The Wind Book for Rifle Shooters.
Reading is a good place to start but does not compare with real trigger time. Even 100 yards with a .22 will teach you a lot.

The theory is easy, the practical is hard.

Each load/bullet will behave very differently in the same conditions so there is no way to learn how to dope wind without busting primers in your rifle.

If there is some way you can 'score' each shot, you will be quicker to learn as you can relate a condition to an adjustment to a result.

Whacking bullets at a target is what most of us do but there is little reference to which bullet did what.

Cause and effect is the best training tool I know of.

It's a good book... simple and organized very informative... you need to read it... technically competitively you can't afford not to... well laid out... touches on everything important...

hey they'reboth good shooters who took the time to write... no nonsense in this book!

it will help you organize your efforts in the wind area....

Tom's right though... nothing is going to beat live fire exercise... period!

The best way to learn how to read wind is to go shoot with your local provincal rifle ass. There are members out there that have been shooting for 3 time as long as I have been alive. They are old and they use open sights and a goofy shooting jacket and the hat you have to laugh at the hat. But they have the info that we are looking for and they will tell you, you may have to play there game (TR shooters) they shoot 308, longrange + tac + hunters all use 308. you trying to read the wind for a shot on a deer, gopher, or steal plate at 900yrds is the same as them trying to hit the big back blob at 900yrds. I have been there those guys will hit the blob faster and more often then you with a scope..

there is alot to learn, shooting to the only way to learn. forget buying more books and go shot with a pro!
