I read some threads here and want to make an order from either Smith or brownells. But I found there are a few different scope mount on their website:

1. On Smith site, what's the difference between #2006 and #2024? Do I need to to any modification for #2024?

2. Looks like more people here prefer #2024, there are 4 different types scope mount in Brownells sites. The right one should be "851-014-021 M14 Scope Mount $225" ?

3. Should I call them to make an order or just buy it online? Any paperwork (import permit) needed? any brokerage fee charged by Canadian custom?

4. Any other things I should pay attention?

Once above questions are answered, I will make an order :)

Thank you all.

1. Link?

2. All 4 are the "right one", they just have different caracteristics. Read the description to seee what's different between them.

3. You may run into exporting issues (i.e. paperwork needed, etc) if you order more than $100 worth of accessories. Legally you're allowed up to $500 now without paperwork but a lot of dealers don't really know what's going on and are stuck with the old $100 limit mindset. Customs doesn't charge brokerage fees, transporters do and the fees vary by transporter. Customs will charge you the GST, PST (if applicable) and duty (also if applicable i.e. if the part was manufactured outside North America).

4. You'd be much better off buying from one of the site sponsors (see links at the top of the page). This way you don't have to worry about importing paperwork, you get local (i.e. in-country) warranty and promote our economy and our few firearms vendors.

Model 2024 is a Weaver mount. 2026 is Picatinny. See the stickies here, they will provide all the info you need. If Brownells can't answer your question, call Smith Enterprises direct.
