Hey all, as the title states, I'm ready to upgrade to an Atlas bipod, however I am unsure of which one I "need". I will use it for many applications, however I'd like to get the model which most prefer for PRS style shooting as I hope to get into my first match or two this year. If I'm spending the coin, I'd like to make sure I'm not sitting down the road wishing I bought a different model.

One other thing is the mount style. Not knowing much about them, are you able to purchase one model, in my case I'm looking (tentatively) at the BT46-LW17 which mounts to a 1913 style rail, and purchase a separate mount for use on an Arca rail?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I have that version, very usable and rugged, had no issues. For PRS, if I were to get one today, I would go for the CAL version. The pan/tilt feature on the V8 and PSR isn't really needed, and the tension knob can be tricky.
You can buy separate mounts. Really Right Stuff makes a mount that will attach to either a picatinny or an ARCA, no need to swap mounts to go between them. Called the BTC-Pro clamp, if you like it, get the no clamp versions of the Atlas like the BT65-NC

Thank you for your reply, very helpful. So you would recommend the BT65-NC with the BTC Pro Clamp?

I'll second the BT65- it's got the non-rotating legs so it can be preloaded better than the old BT10, and the wider footprint is fantastic for stability. Not to mention it's cheaper than a BT46 and with better pivot point too.

Yes, the flexibility is a great feature IMO. If you only want a picatinny only mount, you can get the BT65-LW17. If you want an ARCA only mount, you can get one from other places like Area419.

I have the BT46 PSR and I love it!
I’m happy with the pan/tilt features and find it locks up very solid with ease.
This is the only model of atlas I’ve had any amount of experience with, combined with a area 419 arca clamp it’s a very versatile piece of kit
