Real CZ 858 beach stock durability? Cracking issues?

I managed to snag up a CZ beach wood stock for 150$ I plan to refinish over the next few weeks and throw on my VZ. Before I do put it on, how much of a chance is there for it cracking? Any remedies?

is the cracking caused by heat or due to recoil?

Worried to put it on and half it crack in the future. Would rather keep it for a safe princes if thats the case.

I have it on mine , upper and lower handguard anyway. No issues , it's good to go.

+1 on this, my surplus beech is due to arrive next week and would be beside myself if it cracked during plinking. That's what happened to my Sks with an original stock to the gas piston guard.

Wood has been on rifles for many years... I've been shooting shotguns and my VZ58 with vintage wood and there are no problems with cracking at all. Even had a fugly wood set that looked like it had been through a war or too - it held up fine.

Here's the fugly set I bought on Ebay, fit perfectly and held up really well.

Only thing I find that cracks is the upper handguard, which is pretty thin wood and gets brittle with age. One of the reasons why I bought the thicker (and brand new walnut wood) UHG/LHG from Ironwood Designs, I did sell that rifle with the wood some time ago though.

You're practically next door to the Czech Republic (just small Germany in between). Can't you just call up CZ or BRNO and have them send you one? Or swing by and pick one up? It isn't as far to drive from Brussels to Brno as it is for me to drive to Edmonton to see my folks...
