Good Morning Folks, Well I am incredibly new to the world of firearms. Over winder I will work on getting my PAL. I married into a hunting family and live in the country now,and thought I would love to enjoy the outdoors with my brother in law and my father in law, they are both avid hunters.

I have always wanted to participate, but grew up in a no guns ever family. So lets just say I am a little nervous. Looking into finding a local instructor who will work with raw meat to make a safe gun owner.

Site has some fantastic information

Thanks
Michael (the new guy)

Welcome to the wonderful world of firearms.

I know what it's like to go into your courses withough any firearms background. See if you can borrow the course material from someone. None of it is complicated, but there is a lot of information to absorb in a weekend. Its worth reading the regs front to back too. You'll then feel more comfortable in the courses and get more out of them.

All the best,

RG,

Welcome. I lived (and hunted) for many years in the US. I moved to Canada about 2-1/2 years ago and took the RPAL as a "challenge" test. I had a fair amount of experience and so for me it was relatively easy. But I was very conscious of the fact that there are things both common to all gun users and things that are special to Canada. Take the course, memorize the acronyms, ask as many questions as you need to, to be able to understand what's going on, and remember that first, last and always, safety is the primary concern of the training. I found the course instructors to be knowledgeable and fair, and even understanding when it came to folks at the test who still had questions. Best of luck, be safe, and enjoy.

Thanks for the great welcome, I will definitely as lots of questions. Once I get my PAL, I will be looking for a friend to take me to a club, never been to a gun club ever, so a mentor would be nice :)
