Reamer in 303 brith

I am assuming that you are planning on cutting off the last inch of the chamber setting back the barrel, recutting the threads, and reaming a new chamber.

I was looking at one of those DPs the other day, salvaging the barrel you might be able to do but the receiver is going to be an issue.
 
I'd be much more comfortable with threaded plugs in the DP holes than welded repairs.
A current commercial reamer is unlikely to clean up the chamber after repair. The military chamber is larger than a chamber reamed with a commercial reamer.
Threaded plugs could be installed in the holes in the receiver and then carefully welded over for cosmetic repair.
There are a number of things that could be done with one of these Indian DP rifles, but restoration to .303 with the original barrel is not the best choice in my opinion.
Conversion to .22LR simulating a No. 2 Mk. IV* training rifle would be worth considering.
I've long wondered about how to make use of one of those Indian DP rifles. Interestingly, they retail in the US for a hundred bucks, versus the $400 here. $400 for a beater SMLE with a pin through the receiver ring and barrel strikes me as being a bit pricey.
I have noticed that the similarly altered P'14 and Mk. III Ross DPs had beautiful bores.
 
400$ is to mutch, wolverine sell them for 250$

My plan B was, in reality that was my plan A but after taking a look of the rifling(really amazing) I change my mind…..anyway next plan is rechamber it in 410, that could be more easy

But yes, threaded plug is on my list. I have some DP in stock and can make some test.
 
The .303 barrel isn't really a good candidate for an easy conversion to .410. In addition to repairing the holes through the chamber, the barrel would have to be bored and reamed to .410, and the chamber reamed.
 
I've opened out barrels for installing liners. A .303 rebore to .410 would need one drill and one reamer. Then there is the issue of the chambering reamer. Even DIY, the cost of the tooling would be significant.
I have a couple or three SMLE barrels with poor bores. Better candidates for reboring than one with holes through the chamber.
Come to think of it, I have a SMLE barreled action sleeved to .22LR. A $250 DP from Wolverine would be under $350 delivered. Not unreasonable for a No. 2 Mk. IV* clone.
 
I've drilled a few 303 barrels to 410. I used a normal drill bit that I extended to length with piece of cold roll silver soldered to the drill bit 13/32 or Z sized drill

I drilled from the chamber end to the muzzle and stopped about 2" short of the muzzle, then used a Y drill but to finish the barrel. That way it has a built in choke.

I then used one of peice of cold roll attached to the drill bit. with a slit in it to hold some emery cloth and cleaned up the drilling the best I could.

Then used an an adjustable reamer set to about 11.7mm to cut the chambered, then spun it in the lathe to polish chamber and open up the back side of the chamber for a bit of taper.

It's not ideal but for 410 shot it was good enough. Cost of 2x drill bits and 1x 24" lengths of 1/4 and 5/16 cold roll and an adjustable ramer ( mine was old and free) I have done probably 10 barrels. It takes probably 2 hours.
