I have two options for a reamer, PTG or Mansen.
Anybody have feedback on either. Fluted or straight? Im doing a build then be selling it once gun is done.

I prefer Manson and JGS to ptg. I've had trouble with multiple ptg items including a reamer and their customer service is terrible. I only buy ptg when I have no other options. Just my $0.02

This. I use both JGS and Manson, both are about the same. I found PTG to be hit and miss. They can be really good or you are waiting and waiting. I have a few PTG reamers and they are ok, but it may come next week or next month.

manson or JSG, i had one PTG reamer so bad straight from factory, that when i sent it back, they told me it was well used and just getting dull.. thats great but it "cut" 1/2 a chamber and was ordered directly from them... fvck them

Anybody have any experience with Clymer Precision reamers?

Clymer reamers are right up there with the best IMHO.

Frankly, I've never had a "bad" reamer made by commercial manufacturers.

I've got some borderline quality, homemade "D" type reamers, which I believe may be what the OP may have been referring to as "straight"

I have PTG, Manson, Clymer etc and all work well as long as I do my part well.

Some barrels, such as Black Star are HARD and you need a lot of lube while being extremely careful with rpms and feeding rates.

TURF THE LIBERALS IN 2019

Liberals really like POOR people, they're making more of them every day

If you can't vote CPC, stay at home in protest

I wont buy another reamer from manson. Sent him the reamer print asked for him to open up the freebore on the reamer print . He entered the numbers wrong when he made the changes and proceeded to blame me that the reamer wasnt right (reamer was never spec'd to have a tapered freebore). He wouldn't cover the price to re-grind it so it cost me an extra $120 USD to get his screw up fixed. I wont give him another dime. Not knocking his reamers but when you pay extra for a custom reamer and thats the service you get ill go else were.

The last reamer I got from PTG was fine. That being said their customer service is terrible and like others have said, it may show up in a week or it may never show up and you have to cancel the charge on your cc. Who knows...

When PTG gets it right they are awesome reamers. typically order 10 sets at a time and plain on 2 or 3 to go back for a fix. JGS are very nice but sometimes they are to sharp and one has to be quite careful with them and they lose their edge quick because of it. Both PTG and JGS are great as they do carbide reamers as well. We use manson in a pinch and they cut fine but your limited to pilot size and that can be a big draw back at times. End of the day any of the 3 do well enough if they are right, Be more to the barrel set up and how its done vs 1 reamer being better then the next

Sorry to keep asking for clarification, but I'm not understanding what you are saying. Manson offers live pilots on all their reamers from 17 - 50cal and they are all interchangable with ptg and JGS reamers.

not all interchangeable
Manson will not do as small a piolet as PTG or JGS will do and they don't do carbide so they don't stand up under high speed turning

224 is the smallest diameter reamers I have and they are all live pilot from Manson. I have ptg and Manson pilots and use them on all my reamers from ptg, Manson, and JGS.
