I don't know if this has been asked yet or where in this huge forum, but I want to know steps and tools needed to ream the flash suppressor out of the bullets path any tips would be great.
I have the book packed away right now as I'm moving, but I believe the proper tool for the job to ream a flash hider to NM specs is a #7 fluted tapered reamer...or something like that...hope this helps. I'm sure Laz2000 here on CGN would know.
Why would you want to open up a Norinco M14 Flash hider ? They are already opened up enough for most accuracy work (around here for Service Rifle or NRA High Power games).
If you happened to run across a USGI Flash hider with the factory build TIGHT hole, then I can understand. I've done many of these with the proper spec # 7 tapered pin reamer, this will give you the necessary ID of 0.406" as per National Match specs.
There ya go. Does that sound technical enough for you? Don't want anybody to have their #### fall off.... Sorry I could not resist!
Now back to the Norc M14's. The flash hiders are mostly welded on, so reaming out the already reamed hider is not necessary. If you get the unit off and you still want to ream it out, send it to me....It's only a 2 minute job.
