What are you guys using for rear bags shooting f/TR? I currently have this rear bag I use on the bench. Will it work?

Or should I use something different?

Thanks

Will work.

Stiffness of the bag is based on your stock design and your shooting tastes. Some will go to near rock hard Edgewood bags.

Not good, not bad... just pick what works best for you and don't be afraid to vary the density of the bag you have. Sometimes, a softer bag can help you rid some vertical.

Sometimes, you go the other way....

The bag you are showing is more appropriate for a tripod FO shooter. The reason I say that is they have vertical adjustments within the tripod.

When shooting FTR off a bipod, you don't have a quick vertical adjustment, so you make those changes from the rear bag. I found that doing that with only one bag can be difficult sometimes depending on the shape of the mound and your position on it.

I prefer to use two rear bags for height adjustment. Protektor Custom Bunny Ear Rear Bags (with a soft bottom) and Protektor Pillow Bag. I use the pillow bag as a wedge under the bunny bag and I slide it in from the rear moving it fore or aft to establish the perfect height. Only for fine tuning I squeeze the bunny bag with my left hand. Since your bag has a hard bottom, I don't see that it will seat well on the ground. It's probably much better on a bench.

After a few shots I may need to re-adjust but I try to get the same bag compression every time. Bag compression is critical and you just need to find what the rifle likes.

I don't like heavy sand for FTR, but you might - I guess you just gotta give it a try.
