Howdy,

I picked up a Chinese SKS a while back and finally got around to cleaning the cosmo and taking it shooting. It ran great with zero failures until my rear site came loose and fell off somewhere and I was unable to find it. Any suggestions on a rear sight replacement? Lever Arms in Vancouver has them for $20 but since the SKS is now my only legal (for now) center fire rifle, I am wondering it might be worth upgrading the rear sight and front. I prefer irons. Any one with experience with the Williams fire sights? Or Tech sights might also be an option.

Thanks,

The MagWedge Raven Eye is the best rear sight mount peep. Better still is the rear mounted Tech Sights peep but makes take down a more complicated affair.

Thanks I'll check these out as they are local.

The magwedge one looks nicer IMO, and might even cost less. (they do cost less, but shipping might make up the difference)

The problem with all the replacement rear sights is they don't position the peep far enough back. Peep sights are generally designed to sit quite close to the users face. I've previously seen people mount a custom sight to the rear of the dust cover, puts the peep in a better location.

Oh, OP, if your sight fell off I would want to investigate HOW that happened. The rear sight on mine was not easily removable, makes me wonder if you were missing a part or something.

I have tech sights and the thinner front post. The combo has made my SKS so much easier to shoot accurately and target acquisition is faster too. Yes it is a bit more work for take down but it doesn't out weigh the benefits.

Is there any way to buy Tech Sights in Canada? They don't ship to us anymore..
