Not looking for exact, but what kind of money is a person looking at to rebarrel a Weatherby Vanguard?

I was thinking of rebareling my 300bee 24 inch barrel To a 26 inch 300 win mag or 338 win mag?

I understand there's a lot of variables as in barrel brands And the light.

Vanguard? Just go out and buy another rifle, unless you can find a take off barrel, which would cost around $100-$200, plus gunsmith fees.

A decent new barrel, pre profiled and chambered, $500 minimum, plus gunsmith fees.

It will end up being almost $1K whether you get a pre fit and do it yourself, or a blank and have it chambered and installed. Your lead time for sourcing a barrel and/or gunsmith work will be 4-6 months unless you know some one who can get you ahead of already booked customers. Buy the complete rifle you want today online and sell your present one, unless you have the want/need of a full custom and the budget to match.

I’d say you 3-400 for chambering and threading. Then add the cost of your barrel.

I can’t find the invoice but I had one done not that long ago. If I find it I’ll make the edits price wise.

Do the 300 weatherby vanguards use a longer receiver than say 300wm or 30-06? 300bee is a full length magnum cartridge, not a long action cartridge isn't it?

I have used K&S Arms in edmonton to rebarrel a couple howas and a couple vanguards. Varies on what you want, stainless, special twist, heavy contour, etc. drop them an email or call.

You can buy a nicer rifle in .300WM and be ahead money if you sold the vanguard vs rebarrel.

300wby and 300wm same action and bolt face. .3006 is the same action length but smaller bolt face.

I have considered re barreling many times, and found it cheaper to just buy a new rifle, especially if your talking Vangaurd, Tikka, Ruger 77 class rifles.

I knew the bolt faces were different, but 300bee has an Max OAL of 3.56" vs 3.34" for the win mag and 30-06 so I was just wondering if they used a longer action for the 300bee. Guess not though. Thanks.

Do they use the same magazine then too? Would give you a lot of space for seating bullets long in a win mag or 06 if so?

Was just an idea. Decided to just send the barreled action innfor bead blasting. And possible fluting. Im the second owner and have bad OCD... but the rifle has big sentimental value to me. So i just want all the safe kisses gone and the little oatches of rust innthw stainless gone. As the original owner didnt really take care of the metal so to speak.

That’s why in the Winchester model 70 classic the wby and STW are more valuable it’s a better base gun. You can have the same action with a shorter rear bridge and larger mag, gets rid of COAL constraints.

Looking at my last rebarrel a few months back, little over 1k for a 26in stainless custom contour, installed.
For all the poo-pooing on the vanguard etc its a fine action to start a custom build on.
