My 700 sps varmint in 22-250 is starting to get shot out and have been thinking of getting it re barreled. I'm thinking of going to 6.5 x 47 lapua. I already reload for my other rifles so ammo isn't an issue, but I would still like to be able to use it for predator hunting. Should I rebarrel to 22-250 with a faster twist or would the 6.5 be a good choice?

22-250 is a solid cartridge. I would stick with it. The feed grooves and things in a 22-250 are close but different from 308 so I wouldn't count on reliable feeding in 6.5 unless you find someone who has done it.

7.7 twist on my daughters 22-250 with gr VLD bergers is fun little rig. BC values in the .500 plus and 2900 FPS...I love it...Yotes...not so much :)

I think I would think about 6mm-.250 A bit better a bullet selection; but stay with the same body taper, to keep the issues that OneAdam12 talks about from rearing their ugly heads.

Does anyone know if the 6.5 will feed properly in the 22-250 action?

There is not such thing as a 22-250 action. All 700 short actions are the same, the only thing that changes is the magazine and/or the bolt face.
In short, yes the 6.5 should feed fine in your action.
If you are looking at the lapua case, also check out the 6x47L. Wickedly accurate, should be a excellent varmint cartridge with lighter bullets.

As far as I know, for standard short cartridges, there are two short M700 receivers. One for the .222/.223/.17 family and one for all the .473 short action cartridges.

This!

The feed rails on .222/.223/.17 receivers are not quite the same as on the receivers used for .243, .308, etc.
I believe that the receivers for the detachable magazine versions are different in the feed area.

6.5x47L is awesome. Just load and go. Minimal case trimming and you'll get a bunch of hits before having to bump the shoulder. I love how simple it is.

It will depend on what you are wanting, if a pass through the hide is not a problem then all the above calibers will work PLUS ONE MORE that is the 6mmBR, this one is know for it's accuracy.
If you are concerned about the hide damage then the 204 Ruger will be the answer.
Enjoy

Get a 30 cal barrel with a 1/18 twist and make a 30 br a amazing little cartridge 115 gr bullet at 3000 fps deadly on game 300 + fellow I know has 7500 rounds and still very accurate, brass can be used up to 200 loadings. he used same action you have, don't know about cycling as his a single shot he uses for Benchrest shooting. I have seen him shoot groups at 100 y .110" 5 shots
