I'm planning to rebarrel my .50 cal hawken to a smallbore(22-30 cal). Are there any legal implications in doing so?

A modern flintlock rifle is a prescribed antique. There would be no reason to keep the barrel the same length.

I would suggest keeping the caliber .32 or above. Even .32 can be a nuisance for cleaning and small ramrod size. I think .22 would be a royal pain in the bum.

A modern flintlock pistol must be registered.
Are you planning on rebarrelling your Hawken with a rifle barrel or making it into some sort of pistol? Or some sort of sawed off rifle?
You asked about rebarrelling a flintlock rifle.
How short a barrel are you contemplating?

I'm not planning to shorten the gun. I'm just re-barreling in a smaller caliber. I'm having some trouble funding a smallbore barrel that's the same length as the stock one...
