I want to rebarrel a commercial mauser action. My question is, are Rem barrels the same thread? what would need to be done to make one fit?

Mausers can be two thread sizes... either 1" or 1.1" x 12 tpi.

Remington is about 1.060" x 16tpi.

Why bother spending money to alter and fit a used/pull off factory barrel when that money could be spent fitting a new custom barrel....?

Meatballs and gefiltefish. The Swedish Mausers (ie from Tradex) are small ring. The average Israeli is a large ring. I can't find my copy of Bolt Action Rifles, but I've always believed these were incompatible threads and shank diameter.

True. I was referring to a 6.5x55 barrel which is designed for k98 , I know Heym makes them , but is there a lot of work to get them to eject , feed etc

The pre-threaded Heym barrels are for large ring Mauser and fit fine on the Israeli Mausers.
