i'm wondering about the feasability of rebarrelling standard bolt faced long action. it should work fine except the 6.5x54 has a case head diameter that is smaller then the standard .30-06 case head. i want if this could work and how reliable would extraction and ejection be. for example i have a Norwegian Krag thats has been rebarreled to the 6.5x54, and while it almost always extracts, ejection is not 100%. would a true controled round feed like a 1903 Springfield or M70 work better? i've been eyeing up those Montana M1999 actions, but have heard very mixed reviews.

The bolt face could be bushed and the extractor altered so that extraction and ejection would be fine but I'm not sure about the feeding. I kind of think the 6.5x55 would be a better fit. Regards, Bill
