Ive got a M77 in 3006, still shoots fine ... but have been considering haveing it rebarreled to .280 rem.

Any thoughts from you smithy`s out there about getting this done?? Is it practical? approx cost? whats involved?

Thanx,

Thanx,

It is costly.... a quality stainless barrel all done up ready to shoot - from $625 and up..

and it will be better than any factory Ruger....

Sell it and buy a 280 ruger ;)

Well 280 Rugers are a little hard to come by!!

But you could sell the 06 & find a early 7x57, then it's relatively cheap to have it rechambered & the barrel set back to make a 280:)
cost me $80 quite a few years ago

My exerience is that the tang saftey Rugers had better barrels & were better shooters when bedded properly:)
