Rebarrelling a ten gauge single shot to 8 gauge?

Having trouble hitting those waterfowl? Stick with a 12 gauge and practice more!

I'm joking of course but would love to know where someone could buy 8 gauge shells?

The barrel on most singles sits inside the receiver similar to an o/u. About the only way to do it would be to find an 10 gauge with very thick barrel walls and a smith who was willing to rechamber and rebore the barrels. This would assume he could find an 8 gauge chamber and bore reamer and there was enough metal remaining in the barrel to shoot it safely with the larger gauge.

Find a barrel and have it fitted. Wouldn't be of much use though. You can't use an 8 ga. for migratory birds or Turkey in Ontario.
"...where someone could buy 8 gauge shells?..." Remington loads 'em. 3 1/4" 3 oz lead and zinc slugs. Says something about industrial applications and not used in a conventional shotgun. Who carries 'em is another question. They're mostly used in signalling cannons for starting boat races.

They use them in the smelters to shoot slag off the melting pots.I know where to get unfired 8ga hulls but don't wish to step on any sponsers toes.Harold
